You will also find a special camaraderie among the staff. Our clients recognize how much we appreciate them and relationships are quickly built between us and them. There’s an atmosphere of cheer and friendliness at our pristine-designed salon. Our mission is to be a place where women (men, too!) can rejuvenate themselves and hit the “refresh” button. We treat every face and every client to a custom experience. We not only offer a superior level of professionalism but we pride ourselves in our high level of customer service and personal attention. and so we dedicate ourselves to enhancing your eyes, your face, your looks! And all this is provided by my team of skilled aestheticians. My business is exactly what our name promises: HIGHBROW BEAUTY. Tell us about HighBrow Beauty – what should we know? The result of these various obstacles? I have learned how to cultivate a successful business and gained a great perspective on my life.Īlright – so let’s talk business. That was about seven years ago and I haven’t looked back since. And plunged back (full steam) into developing the HIGHBROW you see today. I soon realized if I wanted to be a success in my field, the only way would be to dedicate myself to a full-fledged business. I made an attempt at servicing some of my long-standing clients in my kitchen! Not really workable. I wanted a family, but I needed to find another pathway because I couldn’t maintain the four salons. However, at that point motherhood would impose another interruption. but in four short years, I had successfully opened four brow bars. With physical therapy and compliance in exercising my hand, I got my strength and movement back again. The doctors told me I would never have maximum use of that hand again. One year into that endeavor I broke my hand: smashed it to smithereens. it was passion.Īfter graduating from MUD and then going through an internship followed swiftly by successful employment at an established salon I rented a small space and opened my own business. In my view, part of being an entrepreneur is having the fortitude to move your dream forward – no matter the circumstances. It is not unusual for entrepreneurs to have met challenges along the way. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way? That was six years ago and I haven’t looked back since. And then came the biggest step of all: taking the leap, hiring a nanny, renting a nice space, signing a lease and launching. So I plied my skill in my kitchen! I quickly realized I needed my own space because I couldn’t use hot wax on my customer’s eyebrows with a tiny toddler running around. Former clients insisted I do their brows. But in all reality, just for a short time. And so it looked like my career was on hold. Well… then an unexpected pathway opened for me: Motherhood. It was so successful, that one brow bar was followed by us opening three more.Ĭlearly, brows were in my DNA. Suffice it to say… I soon regained my hand’s dexterity… started slowly by returning to that hair salon where they welcomed me back and allowed me to open a brow bar. I rented space in a popular hair salon and would have taken the next step in opening my own business but was delayed by hand surgery. I easily found employment at a local beauty boutique and despite that being a big step up… I soon realized I wanted to do my own thing. This allowed me time to accumulate professional credentials and enroll in the makeup program at MUD- a globally recognized makeup trade school (often called the “Harvard of Makeup Schools). Immediately after graduation (and having easy access to the many production companies in this starstruck neighborhood)… I began interning as a makeup artist and did so well I soon struck out on my own as a freelancer. I just loved caring for people and making them feel beautiful. I don’t know who was happier- those folks or me. I was inspired to save money to buy a manicure/pedicure set and soon convinced my family and friends and neighbors to let me do their fingers and toes. I was living in Burbank, California near Universal Studios a neighborhood where the vibes of Hollywood and glamor could be felt even by us teenagers. I’ll never forget that Mary Kay party when I was in high school. Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Harris.īeverly, please share your story with us.
